Guide & Insights

You saw blue. Why did you press red?

This game borrows the idea of the Stroop effect: when color words and ink disagree, reading habits can interfere with answering by color. These short stages let you experience it without assigning an ability score.

🎨

Three stages, one rule

Play 8 matching trials, then 8 conflicting ones, then 16 mixed trials. Four fixed answer positions support clicks and number keys 1–4.

⚖️

Speed alongside accuracy

Only correct answers contribute to reaction medians, reducing the influence of unusually slow trials. The mixed stage has 8 of each type and equal appearances of every ink color.

🧐

See what caught you out

Expand missed trials to compare your pick with the actual ink color. A perfect run gets a celebration, with no empty error panels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1Why not choose what the word says?▼
That is the challenge: always choose the actual ink color. RED in blue means choose BLUE; BLUE in red means choose RED.
Q2Why is there no countdown per trial?▼
Focus on accuracy before speed. There is no deadline. Timing starts when a trial appears and stops when you answer; feedback and stage instructions do not count.
Q3What happens if I switch away or refresh?▼
Moving the page to the background interrupts the current stage. Replay it with new trials while keeping completed stages on this page. Refreshing starts over; results are not saved automatically.
Q4What if conflicting trials are faster, or all my answers are wrong?▼
This shows your run, not a guaranteed interference effect. Practice, randomized trials and the speed–accuracy trade-off affect results. A type with fewer than 3 correct trials is excluded from the time-difference comparison.
Q5What if these colors are hard to distinguish?▼
This game depends on visual color recognition. Screens, display settings and color-perception differences affect the experience. Try the related memory or time challenge instead.
