A cheaper package can cost more per item. This unit price calculator puts different package sizes and offers on the same basis so you can compare groceries, drinks and household products.

- Enter the total price before offers, how many packages you buy and the weight, volume or item count in each package. Open offers for free packages or discounts.
- Read the lowest unit price and ranking. Change the display unit or compare costs for a specific quantity.
Unit price formula
Unit price = [total price before offers × (1 − % off ÷ 100) − fixed discount + extra costs] ÷ [amount per package × (packages bought + free packages)]
Amounts are converted to the same unit first. The total already covers all packages you buy: it is not multiplied by their count. For 20% off, enter 20. Set an offer to 0 if it is already included in the total price.
Worked shopping examples
500 g vs 1 kg
Product A costs 3.60 for 500 g: 0.72 per 100 g. Product B costs 6.40 for 1 kg: 0.64 per 100 g. B has the lower unit price despite the higher package price.
750 mL vs 1 liter
A 750 mL bottle at 2.40 costs 3.20 per liter. A 1 liter bottle at 3.00 costs 3.00 per liter. Compare volume with volume; grams cannot be converted to milliliters without density.
Two small packs vs one large pack
Two packs of 6 items cost 5.40 in total: 12 items at 0.45 each. A pack of 18 at 7.20 costs 0.40 each. For the first option, enter a total price of 5.40, 2 packages to buy and 6 items per package.
Buy one, get one vs 20% off
One 500 g pack at 8.00 plus one identical free pack costs 8.00 per kg. A 1 kg pack at 10.00 with 20% off and a 1.00 coupon costs 7.00 per kg. The discounted option has the lower unit price.

Divide the final total cost by the total quantity received. For 6.40 and 1 kg, the price is 6.40 per kg or 0.64 per 100 g. This calculator first normalizes units and applies the offers you enter.
Q2Can I compare grams with ounces or milliliters with fluid ounces?▼
Yes, within the same mode. Weight supports g, kg, oz and lb; volume supports mL, L, US fl oz and UK fl oz. US and UK fluid ounces differ. Weight and volume are not interchangeable without density.
Q3How do I enter multipacks and buy-one-get-one-free offers?▼
Enter the total price for all packages you buy and the weight, volume or item count in a single package. For buy one, get one free, enter 1 under packages to buy and 1 under free packages. Free packages must match the purchased size.
Q4What does the discount percentage mean?▼
Enter the percentage taken off, not the percentage you pay. For 20% off, enter 20. The calculator applies the percentage discount, then the coupon or fixed discount, then extra costs. Set an offer to 0 if it is already included in your price.
Q5Is a larger pack always cheaper?▼
No. Compare the normalized unit price, not only the package price. Also consider storage, quality and how much you can use before it expires; a lower unit price does not guarantee a lower total spend.
